DSLR

That’s the acronym of Digital Single-Lens Reflex camera. It’s the high-end camera that every photographer dreams of having. Fortunately for my lover Oreo, he already has one. Yes, he recently purchased a Nikon DSLR (I forgot to ask for the exact model). I am so envious!

I’m planning to buy one myself but that would take all my 13^th month pay and Sick Leave (SL) conversions combined to buy at least the Nikon D3000 or Canon EOS 1000d. I can’t wait for December!

I would then take a photography class (if I can afford Ian Felix Alquiros’ talent fee) and start shooting! I would probably have a photo blog as well. The possibilities are endless.

Oreo will be arriving in less than a month and we haven’t talked about our plans after his arrival. He hasn’t decided yet, whether he’ll return back to Saudi Arabia after a month’s vacation or he’ll stay here for good. How can I convince him to stay here in the Philippines for good if he obviously gets the gadgets he wanted if he works in Saudi?

Theoretically, it’s good if he’ll stay here in the Philippines for good. We’ll live together, rent an apartment, works in the same industry (same company if possible) and live a simple, average Filipino lifestyle. On the other side, he can return to Saudi and have another Long Distance Relationship with me. I am (at this point) is still not ready to work in Saudi because I still don’t have a passport and I haven’t applied to a local recruitment agency yet.

I’m afraid to go out of my comfort zone, go out of the country, and work abroad like so many OFWs, like my lover Oreo. Probably, once he’s here in the country, with me, I’ll ask him all about his experiences in Saudi. I’ll ask if he would really recommend me to work there, with him.

Hopefully, I would hear Oreo say that working abroad is like using a DSLR camera. It’s very complicated at first with all these lens and settings, but when we get use to it, our “outlook” and perspective of life would change for the better.

Thus begins the debate on whether to go abroad or not.

Croissant and Chickens

Here’s another practice for my photography hobby. I’m taking pictures of foods and gadgets! I’m still using my Canon PowerShot A495 digital camera. By the way, the croissant from Starbucks is definitely good! The chickens from KFC are hot, delicious and crispy as usual. My BFF also started playing “Empires and Allies” on my laptop yesterday.

HP Pavilion Slimline s5700d Desktop PC

This was my first purchased item using my HSBC Credit Card. I purchased this for my nephews way back in March 24, 2011 (the same day I got the card). I wasn’t able to blog about this before. I just remembered blogging about this today when I stumbled upon the pictures of this desktop computer while I was looking for old pictures inside my laptop.

 

I got this for P29,990.00, out of the 30k credit limit of the card, from PC Live Megamall. It’s a 1-year installment package for P2,499.17 a month. I love the specs of this desktop. It runs “Star Craft II” and “Heroes of Newerth” very well. I wanted to have a gaming computer that is why I selected an AMD desktop.

• Hard disk: 500 GB
• Video card: ATI Radeon HD 5450 2GB
• OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Basic (32-bit)

Although I’m working as a Technical Support Representative for 4 years now, I’m still not an expert when it comes to Gaming Computers. What do you expect, I’m only playing Ragnarok Online and DotA which runs on minimal systems.

New Mouse and “Talong”

Due to my addiction to Ragnarok Online and DotA, I have to replace my mouse. It’s no longer responsive and I’ve been losing due to poor mouse performance. So I bought a new mouse, a Genius, which I prefer over Logitech or A4Tech. I guess it’s the best brand for a mouse (money and durability-wise). This cost me P350.00 from SM Megamall.

Also, my friend gave me a very peculiar eggplant (“talong”). It’s green! And these are ready to cook! It’s from Lemery, Batangas.

Samsung Corby II Launched

After we watched Rio yesterday at SM Megamall, we saw an event at SM Megamall (where the Ice Skating Ring used to be). It’s the launch of Samsung Corby II.

I’m not a personal fan of Samsung Corby. I purchased the original one last year and I’m not happy with the response time of the touch screen and the unit hangs. I eventually gave my Samsung Corby to my sister-in-law. 

I only watched the fashion show for the Samsung Corby II simply because the hosts are gorgeous as well as the male models (particularly the guy in pink polo). Anyone knows his name?

My New HSBC Credit Card

Back in 2001, I used to work for the Honk Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) as a marketing associate. I’m one of those guys who’s asking the mall goers of SM Megamall if they want to have a new HSBC Credit Card. It was March 2001 and there was an Income Tax Filing Booth nearby. I was wearing a white shirt with the letters “HSBC” and denim jeans. I never imagined back then that I would own one.

Yesterday, my new HSBC Credit Card arrived and I was very happy. It’s my second credit card and it’s a Visa. The first credit card I have was a BPI Express Credit (MasterCard). It has a P24,000 credit limit compared to the P30,000 credit limit of my new HSBC card.

It took almost 2 months before I got my card. One month for the processing, and another month for the delivery. It should have taken only 8 days before it got delivered, but our house is a bit hard to find, specially for couriers.

I got the number of the courier agency from the HSBC representative. Then I got the number of the courier himself from the courier agency. I talked to the courier twice and gave instructions on where on Earth our house is.

I was very happy that it was finally delivered. Do you want to know the first item that I purchased using my new card?

G-Shock DW-9052

The last time I had a watch was 10 years ago. It’s a simple Swiss pocket watch. When the cellular phones became a part of Filipino lives, I’ve abandoned the traditional watch in exchange for the clock feature that all cellular phones have.

Last January 16, when I received a payment (from a loan) in the amount of P3,577, the first thing I thought of buying was a watch. Probably I got tired of looking at my cellular phone’s clock or I simply wanted an accessory. I also thought of having a watch as a constant reminder not to hurt the ones I love (Oreo in particular). So, I went to SM Megamall, and looked for a watch. I was a fan of the G-Shock series way back in college so I decided to have one. Plus, Time Trend (the watch store) have 10% discount on their watches.

So I purchased the G-Shock DW-9052 for just P3,200 and I love it so much. It’s simple, it’s digital, it has stop watch feature (to help me avoid being over-break at work) and like all G-Shock models, you can still look at the time even if it’s dark because of the Illuminator feature.

Two Laptops

Here are the pictures of our laptop. The first one is my laptop. It's an Asus K40IJ. It has Pentium T4300 processor, 14" HD (LED) display, with 320 gig of storage space and 2GB memory.

Oreo's laptop is a Sony VAIO laptop. He mentioned the model number in YM but I wasn't able to take note of it. I can't wait to take a picture of these two laptops sitting next to each other and beating each other in performance.

Canon A495

I'm publishing here a picture of my niece taken using my new digital camera -- the Canon A495. It's a nice camera with 10 megapixel of resolution and the price is around P7,000. I brought it yesterday using the money I got from my 2nd loan through SSS.

I actually wanted to compete with the gadgets being acquired by Oreo in Saudi right now. He also has his own digital camera. I forgot the brand and specs. But knowing how tech savvy my husband is, I'm pretty sure it's a powerful digital camera.

I'm looking forward to buying gadgets with Oreo at Cyberzone. I can't wait for that day.
