Talk Back And You’re Dead

Now this is something that I would watch. After the success of “Diary of Panget”, Nadine Lustre and James Reid is back with a new movie – “Talk Back And You’re Dead”. This time, Joseph Marco is included in the cast.

With the sheer number of James Reid and Nadine Lustre fans, I’m sure that this movie would be a hit. It will be shown on August 20, 2014. Let’s watch the trailer.

The JobsDB Recruitment Party

So I attended a one of a kind Job Fair / Recruitment Party last night at the Elbow Room, Metrowalk, Ortigas Center. It’s called Hired and it’s powered by JobsDB. It’s a one of a kind, Recruitment Party and the first of its kind. Instead of a usual Job Fair in a mall that starts at Mall Hours until 5PM, this Recruitment Party by JobsDB started around 4PM in one of the most famous gimmick place in the Metro. It was followed by a party around 8 PM with drinks! Now that’s something unique.

The companies that were present during this unique Recruitment Party were Alorica, West, Hinduja, HGS, Sutherland, Taotec, Stellar, VXI, Teleperformance, WeSelect, Genpac and Unison among others. The host of the party was Rico Robles and it was sponsored by Tanduay Ice, Zalora Philippines, Gatsby, Star City, Philippine Bloggers Network and When In Manila, Adobo Magazine among others.

I accompanied my friend in this event but I also manage to apply at 2 companies. It was more of initial interviews and then they’ll make a follow-up on Monday for more tests and interviews. The timeframe was only about 4 hours and I agree that they can’t do a full interview-tests-job offer during this event. I hope my friend and the jobseekers present last night would definitely receive a follow-up call to continue their job application. I applaud JobsDB for coming up with such a concept and hopefully; other recruitment firms and job fairs would be as fun and exciting as this one.

The Elbow Room is located on the 2nd floor of the Metrowalk in Ortigas Center. It’s our first time to the venue and it’s perfect for the Hire Recruitment Party.

Snacks were provided to jobseekers while waiting for their turn to be interviewed. JobsDB’s party is definitely worth attending.

Prizes were given away to those jobseekers who participated in the party.

Laptops were provided so that jobseekers can visit the JobsDB website to look for jobs while waiting for their turn to be interviewed.

The Elbow Room in Metrowalk is equipped with billiard tables. Jobseekers take advantage of this amenity while waiting for their turn to be interviewed.

The Hire Recruitment Party is also a great time to chat with friends about career growth.

The 2015 Philippine Holidays

The moment that the 2015 Philippine National Holidays was released by Malacanan (through the Official Gazette), several lay-outs pop-up on Facebook.

Here are the 3 that I saw. I like the lay-out made by Inquirer – it’s simple and easy to read:

Finally, The Face of Christian Grey

I read only 2 of the 3 Fifty Shades of Grey books in 2012 when I was still working at Transcom. I actually got bored with all the sex scenes in the books!

A few days ago, the trailer for the 50 Shades of Grey movie was released and now is the only I watched it. I imagine Christian Grey to be more gorgeous and handsome that the actor (Jamie Dornan) who portrayed him. Seeing the trailer, I got this urge to read the 3rd and final book in the series.

I wonder if the movie will just be the 1st book of the Trilogy. I guess it will depend on how the viewing audience will respond to the 50 Shades of Grey movie.

Here’s the trailer BTW.

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson

I would love to watch the movie adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey

Job Fair at Glorietta, July 15-16, 2014

So I’ve been helping my friend Tutchi find a job in the call center industry. He’s been jobless for almost a month now and still unable to find a job after attending the recent Job Fair in SM Megamall organized by DZRH.

This time, I’ll accompany him in attending the 9th National Career Fair 2014 in Glorietta Activity Center, Glorietta Mall, Makati City on July 15-16, 2014. What makes this Job Fair unique is that the Social Security System (SSS) will conduct issuance of SSS Application Form E-6 and ID. I’m guessing this is the new SSS ID.

This event is organized by Ad Exhibit Incorporated and will be a venue for finding jobs in the BPO (Call Center), Overseas Employment, Medical Conglomerate and KPO. See you guys there!

An Invitation From Ambient Solutions BPO

So I received an invitation from Ambient Solutions BPO today to apply in their company. I must admit, the poster looks promising. Since we’re going to attend the Job Fair of DZRH tomorrow at SM Megamall, we’ll probably passed by Emerald Avenue where Ambient Solutions BPO is located.

I like their battle cry that Ambient Solutions is a company that empowers people to #BeSomethingMore. I also like the Relaxed Work Environment in this poster as well as the Signing Bonus Provided. Hopefully the poster really speaks the truth about Ambient Solutions BPO.

“Noah” Philippine Premiere June 11, 2014

Columbia Pictures Philippines revealed that the much-anticipated movie “Noah” will hit Philippine theaters on June 11, 2014. The movie stars Russel Crowe and Emma Watson.

The Philippines is a predominantly Catholic country so II  believe that a lot of Filipinos would like to see how the directors would interpret the Biblical story of Noah and the Great Flood.

I’m excited to watch “Noah”. The storm is coming.

The storm will hit Philippine theaters on June 11, 2014.

I’m Back At Convergys!

I first worked for Convergys in January-July 2009 for a US ISP account (wireless and home networking). Back then, I had an issue with my team leader (TL) which brought my career at Convergys to a halt (1 week before being regularized). Back then, I was assigned at Robinson’s Equitable Tower and I enjoyed their shower room during my stay.

After more than 4 years, I’m back at Convergys! Now, I’m assigned at MDC 100 Building in Eastwood City, Libis, Quezon City. I’m back on handling a DSL account and I’m enjoying the account so far. It feels good to be back at Convergys. Hopefully this time, I’ll be able to meet the minimum 5 years of service to be eligible for the retirement plan. As far as I know (AFAIK), only Convergys has that program – which is not available in other call centers that I worked for like Sitel Philippines, Transcom, Sutherland, Teleperformance, Sykes Asia and Alorica.

Convergys is hiring! So if you want to be part of the more than 35,000 heroes (employees) of this wonderful company. Simply send your resume to me elmerlovesoreo(at)gmail(dot)com and I’ll give you some tips on how to pass the interview.

The Amazing Race Season 24 (All-Stars)

I’m happy to know that the 24th season of The Amazing Race began airing yesterday. I’m happy to see familiar teams in the roster of contestants but I was disappointed that James and Jaymes (Chippendales) was not included.

I’m happy to see my favorite team of all time, Jet and Cord, to compete again! I wish them success. Other teams that I was happy to be included in this All-Stars Edition are the father and son team of Dave and Connor.

I was happy to see that Mark and Bopper was included in the line-up, but Bopper was replaced by Mallory Ervin because of a life-threatening illness. I’m also happy to see Joey of the YouTube team and Brendon of the Big Brother team.

Here are the complete list of the teams competing for All-Stars, from Wikipedia:

This season's 11 teams are selected from past contestants, going as far back as Season 14. The season includes three teams who will compete for a third time after participation in Season 18 Unfinished Business.[4]

The returning teams and their prior race placements are:

  • From Season 18:
    • Margie O'Donnell (previously Adams) and Luke Adams, mother and son, 8th place (3rd place in their original appearance in Season 14)
    • Herbert "Flight Time" Lang and Nathaniel "Big Easy" Lofton, teammates on the Harlem Globetrotters, 2nd place (4th place in their original appearance in Season 15)
    • Jet and Cord McCoy, brothers and rodeo cowboys, 6th place (2nd place in their original appearance in Season 16)
  • From Season 20:
    • Brendon Villegas and Rachel Reilly, newlyweds (engaged in season 20), 3rd place
  • From Season 21:
    • Natalie and Nadiya Anderson, twin sisters, 4th place
  • From Season 22:
    • Caroline Cutbirth and Jennifer Kuhle, friends and country singers in the Stealing Angels, 4th place
    • Dave and Connor O'Leary, father and son, 8th place
    • Jessica Hoel and John Erck, engaged (dating in season 22), 9th place
    • Joseph "Joey" Graceffa and Meghan Camarena, best friends and YouTube vloggers, 5th place
  • From Season 23:
    • Leo Temory and Jamal Zadran, cousins, 4th place (The Afghannimals)
  • Composite Team:
    • Mark Jackson, 5th place in Season 20 and Mallory Ervin, 3rd place in Season 18 (6th place in her original appearance in Season 17) 1

^1 Jackson was originally teamed with his partner from Season 20, William "Bopper" Minton. However, Bopper was deemed by the race doctor as unfit to race, so he was replaced by Mallory Ervin from seasons 17 and 18.

The Gorgeous Peeta Mellark

I’ve been a fan of Josh Hutcherson ever since I saw him on the movie “Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant”. He played the role of Steve “Leopard” Leonard, the antagonist of the film. Next, he was cast in the film “Journey to the Center of the Earth” along with Brendan Fraser. By this time, he’s already my crush and I’m already a certified fan.

Then, Josh Hutcherson was cast as Peeta Mellark – the boy who loved Katniss Everdeen in the popular “Hunger Games” trilogy. This movie propelled his status as a blockbuster star. He became so popular specially in his hometown of Kentucky. He recently supported the Kentucky Wildcats and he was given the three-finger salute by fans.

He looks very gorgeous in this picture published on E! Online.
