Last Sunday, after I visited the Cainta Church, I went straight to the Antipolo Church. It’s also known as the Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage.
According to Wikipedia, the image of "Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage" has been venerated in the church of Antipolo for centuries. The old church that housed the virgin was destroyed in February 1945 when the Americans bombed Antipolo as part of the liberation campaign of Manila. In 1954 a new church was built designed by the renowned Filipino architect Jose de Ocampo. This church is of a copular design centered around the image of the Virgin. It functions as the center point of the pilgrimages to Antipolo.
Since the church is circular, it’s a bit small for the large number of parishioners so a large number are outside the church. The sound system that the church use is very good since you can understand every word of the priest even if you’re outside the church.
